Going for Gold - refurbished desk

I'm soooo excited, we're surrounded by the Commonwealth Games that started today.  The weather has been great so I've been out on the street working on furniture.  This is a dressing table turned into a gold desk.

Originally, this dressing table had a single mirror across the back, however it can no longer be fitted to the mirror struts - I'm hoping to hang it above the desk on the wall back in the shop.

It's been painted all over in Autentico's 'Nearly Black' chalk paint and then the whole thing has been waxed in layers of gold.  Yup, I finally went all out with the gold.

The gold has  been applied more strongly to define the shape around the drawers and highlights the serpentine flow of the top.

The drawers are painted Gers Blu inside - a cornflower blue - for a lift of colour.

And I left the original handles, they're in great condition, heavy brass that works well against the dark tone and gold.

I took all the photos outside as I finished her this afternoon, the gold creates a lovely soft shine that looks even better indoors...

I think this would make a stunning desk, BUT with a free standing mirror or wall mounted mirror, would still be a fabulously stylish dressing table.
