Stunning 1950s Wardrobes - White Chalk Paint

I had two beautiful French style, 1950s wardrobes for sale on my Facebook page (you can find naked furniture in the shop section here).  A customer bought both and asked me to repaint them in white with some shabbying and gilding.  Here's a good look at these lovely wardrobes before any work.

They're both solid wood with quality carved mouldings.

The 1950s ornate handles are faded but still wonderful inspiration.

Here's the smaller wardrobe... originally cream paint, this has faded and has started to flake away.

The larger wardrobe is in the same condition, both will need to have the flakes sanded away and some prep done before painting.

Both are spotless inside - and have the same hanging area and wood and glass cubbyhole shelving.

Well... what can I say, when the work started, there was a A LOT of stain blocking going on...
Both wardrobes needed quite a lot of prep, as after testing, it was clear the original wood stain/ treatment was going to bleed through into the chalk paint and cause discolouration.

But after painting, shabbying, gilding and that final waxing.. WOWEEEEEE!!!

These wardrobes have transformed into stunning pieces of furniture.

Already plastic wrapped, shipped and settled into their new home. Phew!!!
