Art Deco Style - Purple Painted Dressing Table
August is looking like another great month for commissions, this lovely Art Deco dressing table is a favourite example.
Even before any work, this dressing table is just beeeeautiful. When I picked it up, I really was unsure if this should be painted. But there has been a lot of damage to the top from use and probably perfume spills over the years. My customer loves it and wants it re-designed into a style that matches the rest of her bedroom furniture and colour scheme
So it was agreed that I'd paint all over in Amethyst - a lovely purple chalk paint - and then add soft silver wax.
Here's the paint when the silver is starting to be added to the drawers. I was looking at the level of silver gilding and finish for the handles too.
Here she is when the silver wax has been added all over and before the handles have been put on.
Heavier silver has been added to the bottom of the dressing table and the curving upper drawers. Not easy to get the picture right, so here's another to show of 'the bling'.
Nothing too heavy... My client loves it and I must say it's been a great little piece to work on.
These fabulous drawers pull out from the side hinge - such a great design, so feminine.
The handles have a little amethyst gilding added to enhance the floral design and the drawer tops are silver gilded.
Isn't she cute?
Not leaving the mirror out either, it's been painted and gilded - so the floral theme has been picked out here too.
What can I say, just a beautiful piece of bedroom furniture :-)
