Busy with Commissions - Banishing Brown!
Commission work has been busy of late - which is fantastic! Interestingly there's a run on the French cream-coloured paint with a white limed finish. Here's some examples (wardrobe, sideboard, kitchen dresser):
Well - OK, they're all reeeeeally brown, but this French wardrobe was stunning to begin with.
Just look at the flow of this gorgeous design - I should have showed you inside (which was painted in Foggy Venice grey) - four shelves and a hanging rail's been added. These pieces are all being commissioned for a little girl's room.
Phew! What a job - I didn't have time to show you the other pieces, they were wrapped and shipped before I could grab the camera. Everything's been painted with Paris White chalk paint from Autentico and then finished with white chalk wax. Which do you prefer, before or after?
There's always things to do, the handles were being changed so there's filling and re-drilling...
This Welsh Dresser is solid oak - I was painting upside down here in case you can't work it out :-)
Such a beautiful piece - I love to use coloured waxes to bring through the design.
This is the dresser when it was at home before any work...
This is the after - the insides of the cupboard were painted in a light grey contrast (Autentico's Foggy Venice)
I've been refurbing handles too - the originals on the drawer were replaced at some point.
aren't the originals with an 'acorn' design pretty? They've been painted in the same chalk paint and then sealed and buffed with gold gilding wax.
This is another wardrobe - was so very plain looking when it was brown, once painted and waxed you wouldn't recognise it as the original piece.
Taking a quick break from the creams and onto whites - another bedroom, completely refurbed in white and silver.
Everything was painted with Autentico's Foggy Venice grey, then the drawer fronts on the tallboy and bedside cabinets were picked out in Roman White. Finished with Silver Wax over the grey. The handles have been refurbed with silver gilding wax too.
A few items have been painted in shabby chic white. So many people ask, can I get this painted, just white and very shabby? Yes you can!!!
